Let’s discuss the long-term reliability of red dots on carry and defensive firearms. What window size and optic height have you found to be the most consistent? Are you using a traditional co-witness, a lower sight picture, or have you taken the irons off entirely? Please share your gun, optic, mount/plate, and iron configuration so we can create a helpful comparison list.

For my EDC, I rely on an RMR mounted on my Glock 17 with a lower 1/3 co-witness setup. I also have Trijicon iron sights as a backup. This optic has maintained its zero through years of being carried and used at the range.

I use a Sig Sauer Romeo-X Compact, which has a decent-sized window and lower third iron sights. The red dot does the main work, but the iron sights are there if the battery dies.
