As I was browsing the revolver case at a local shop, I noticed something a bit off. It seemed like everything was either .22 LR or .38 Special. Why aren’t there more options in between? There must be some choices for those who want a little extra power without jumping straight to a .38. That curiosity is what led me here to find out what’s available.

Those middle cals are actually a sweet spot for a lot of shooters. Guns like the .32 H&R Mag or .327 Federal are genuinely enjoyable to shoot with a soft recoil that makes them a pleasure at the range. Most buyers are either after the budget-friendly .22 or the “serious defensive caliber”.38/.357 which means those middle options often get pushed aside even though they fill a valuable niche.
