CT new definition of a firearm??

I just received an alert from the CCDL regarding some up coming bills that will be going to public hearing this month. One of the bills adds barrels and cylinders to the definition of a firearm, thus requiring federal paperwork and FFL to buy, sell or trade these items. If this were to pass as proposed, it would mean you would require to treat these items as firearms with all the attendant requirements. I shoot T/C Contenders and Encores, and have several barrels in both pistol and rifle form. I would be required to go thru an FFL to buy or sell these barrels. I also have two revolvers with inter-changable cylinders that would also require an FFL. I don't see how these items can be classified as a fire arm when they can't fire a round on their own. Heck, I even have a revolver cylinder on my desk that I use as a paper weight. I would have to store this item in a locked safe to be legal in CT.

The law makers in this state have no clue about fire arms. We need notify our representatives that we are against this proposed bill when it comes up for Public Hearing.

Calling barrels or cylinders “firearms” seems like a stretch, those parts alone can’t even fire a round.

so true, but as the proposed bill reads, those items will be classified as fire arms and thus be subject to federal & state laws.

That’s when you know lawmakers are writing rules about parts they’ve probably never handled or even seen up close.
