For the sake of starting a new conversation, what was the biggest animal you have ever hunted? My biggest so far was a 250-lb wild boar in Texas last year.

I have also taken boar. The last one was 275 +/- pounds dressed with a .50 caliber Black Powder pistol. I would have to say that the largest animal I have hunted, and taken, was a huge 12 point buck that went 238# field dressed.

My biggest was a 340 lb Alaskan brown bear with a 30-06, took three shots to drop it in thick alders. That boar sounds fun though, they fight dirty up close.

Took a 400 lb moose in Canada, dragged it out over two days with a buddy.

Your boar is solid, but nothing beats the rack on that 12 point you guys mentioned.

That 12-point buck is awesome, and with a black powder pistol, wow! For my boar, I used blood trailing with a UV light at dusk to track through thick brush. Works great if you lose the trail in cover.

You mis-interpreted my post. I shot the boar with a .50 caliber BP pistol. The 12 point buck was taken with a .58 caliber flint lock.

The biggest I've taken was a 180-lb elk a few years back, it is definitely a workout getting it out of the woods
