I've been out in the woods chasing squirrels and rabbits lately, and I’m starting to think it might be time to put a scope on my rimfire rifle. Do you have any tips on the best magnification and reticle styles to go for? I really want to nail those small targets out there!

When it comes to spotting squirrels and rabbits in the woods, I’d recommend looking for something in that 2–7x or maybe 3–9x magnification range. That way, you’re getting just enough zoom to track those little critters without making things too complicated or losing sight of what’s around you, especially in dense underbrush.

I’d go with a duplex reticle. It’s just so clean and straightforward. Now if I’m out pushing my limits or tackling some serious elevation changes, I could see the value in a BDC reticle. But for most of my rimfire hunting trips, keeping it simple really feels like the best choice.
