Just curious what everyone thinks about keeping ramen for emergencies. It's not the most nutrient-rich, but man, it's affordable, filling, and the shelf life is pretty impressive. I’ve stashed away a few cases myself but wondering how much time I really have past the expiration date. Also, anyone with tips on better storage methods than just the original box? Do you all make ramen a regular rotation in your preps or have any cool hacks to amp it up for long-term survival? They seem to last longer than expected!

I have a couple cases stacked in the basement. When the ice storm knocked our power out last winter, ramen was one of the easiest meals we had. Boiled water on the camp stove, tossed in some canned chicken, and it felt like a real meal. It lasts years if you keep it dry. I vacuum seal some packs just to keep bugs out.

Ramen's a good backup, dude, it is cheap, lightweight, and lasts way past the date if kept dry and sealed. I rotate mine every year or so. Have you ever tried vacuum-sealing with flavor packs separate? It makes em stretch longer.

Good to keep, but I wouldn't live on it. I pack some bullion cubes and dehydrated veggies with mine. Turns a plain pack into a decent stew.
